I am Argun Dağçınar, the owner of Hodja Jewellery, an enterprise started by my father, Hamit.

 

As a boy, my father would tell me the stories of Hodja, a legendary character, philosopher, Sufi and wise man. The stories were sometimes witty, sometimes wise with Hodja often the butt of his own jokes, wrapping humour around profound life messages.

 

And that’s why my father called his business Hodja Jewellery. Like Hodja’s adventures, Hodja Jewellery doesn’t take life too seriously. We like to laugh. In fact, we’ve been laughing and shaping eternal Anatolian motifs into our unique, contemporary designs since 1947.

 

Anatolia continues to be our source, our muse, our inspiration. From the Northern Mesopotamian civilizations to the Greek settlements, from Byzantine to the Sultanate of Rum, from the Ottomans to modern day Turkey, Anatolia has hosted different civilizations with different ways of life, witnessing their unique institutions, architecture, art and craftsmanship.

 

We are inseparably linked to the Anatolian ethos.

We create pieces of jewellery, imagined through the lens of Anatolia’s soul.

We craft the carefree spirit of Hodja into our pieces.
