Muqarnas is a type of ornamental vaulting in the Anatolian architecture. It generally is composed of intertwined small arches, looking like a honeycomb. Muqarnas have a transitional role in architecture, distinguishing the main parts of a building from each other. Symbolically, its elaborate form is designated to represent God's omnipresence and omniscience.
