In
the Eastern culture, Khatun is the title used for women of nobility. In the
Göktürks, the title is given to the wife of the ruler. In the history of
architecture in the Sultanate of Rum, tombs of khatuns are quite common,
commemorating the importance of the indisputable status of women in the
society. This ring embodies the collective stories of khatuns of the past, of
the present and of the future.
